Abstract

Though the the diagnosis of TB is best confirmed by demonstration of AFB in clinical samples of patients, it may not be possible in case of extrapulmonary tuberculosis such as TB of meninges, genito-urinary tract,gastro-intestinal tract and skeleton, smear negative pulmonary tuberculosis, follow up during chemotherapy and in case-finding surveys. Immunological tool (5) offer new prospects for the development of a specific serological test. Several assays based on the detection of antibodies or antigens in serum or other body fluids have been reported.
