Abstract

Grid is a system in which machines are distributed across various organizations. Grid computing is an emerging technology in which resources are distributed geographically. It promises to become the future computing paradigm for enterprise applications after having shown to be a quite effective computing paradigm for resource intensive scientific applications. This paper provides an overview of Grid computing and the types of various resources which are necessary in Grid environment to solve and develop various applications. It also describes the various steps in scheduling jobs to resources in Grid.
