Abstract

Nepal (Gorkha) Earthquake of 25th April, 2015 with the intensity of 7.7 on Richter scale was a devastating one, which led to the destruction of many heritage sites in Nepal and its Neighboring countries. In India, the shocks can be felt in the states of the Bihar, Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Assam and Himachal Pradesh. After the earthquake the retrofitting of the structure was to be done to make the structure safe enough for its further usage and to serve the purpose. In the process of retrofitting, the structure was first visually inspected and then retrofitted according to its need, after analyzing the structure meeting the present day Codal provision. It is the process which comprises of several steps which are Visual Inspection, Analysis of the Structure, finding out repair/Rehabilitation/Retrofitting requirement of the Structure, Selection of the Retrofitting Technique, actualRetrofitting procedure of the Structure and finally Analysis of the structural strength etc. after the Retrofitting of the Structure.
